As an educator, Sarah developed curriculum and presented courses for public schools, colleges, and business settings. From 1980 to 2004, she was engaged as a business strategist, system\u2019s analyst, computer consultant, and web developer implementing applications for major corporations including Morgan Guaranty, First Boston, Citicorp, Equitable Life, and Newsweek. As a technology instructor she developed and presented courses for major corporations and government agencies including the Social Security Administration, Office of Personnel Management, US Army, and the New York City Board of Education. From 1989 to 1993, as Vice President and co-owner of StarTech Software Systems, Inc., she co-developed and marketed a report management and distribution system which was used by companies in the United States, Europe, and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>In 2004, she combined her technical and business expertise and joined the East Ramapo School District as a library media specialist. She presented workshops for regional library conferences, local school districts, teacher centers, Leadership Rockland, and for St. Thomas Aquinas College. Her work has been highlighted in School Library Journal and regional publications.<\/p>\n<p>In July of 2010, Sarah become the Director of Information Resources and Learning Technologies for Rockland BOCES. Sarah was an adjunct online instructor for McDaniel College in Maryland. In the summer of 2009 she developed the course, \u201cLearning Technologies\u201d, a required master\u2019s level course in McDaniel\u2019s School of Library Science and School of Education.<\/p>\n<p>For Benchmark Education (2012-14) she directed a\u00a0 team of writers and technicians to take a product she developed in 2005, Digital Pencil (www.digitalpencil.org), to enterprise level.<\/p>\n<p>Her research considers motivation, curiosity, creativity, environment, systems and design thinking to support analysis and identification of opportunities to create frictionless face-to-face, virtual, and blended learning environments. She conceives \u201cfrictionless learning\u201d as the integration of optimally structured space, time, resources, and community interaction to support achievement of individual and group learning goals. Her current product work merges teaching, learning, and assessment into collaborative, responsive digital work spaces.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2012, Sarah successfully defended her dissertation \u2014 Can You Hear Us Now? Investigating the Effects of a Wireless Grid Social Radio Station on Collaboration and Communication in Fragile Populations.
